           Custom Per Inspired Service ~ Just For you

A while back a customer contacted me to ask if I could design a sterling silver two stranded  bracelet  as a meaningful remembrance  of her beloved parrot Sam who passed away. In her words,I could honestly hear how  heartbroken  she was feeling over the  loss of her special Furiend. As you know, much of my inspiration for many of my pet related pieces comes from my Love of animals.  So,  I was extremely excited to be able to design this special piece.

 After learning  the details of  what my customer wanted in this design and receiving a photo   I was off to design   and capture the true spirit of this very precious life.  Because a parrot is an exotic and tropical bird I  wanted to use appropriate  beads that would be a good  match  with  color and texture  while capturing  the exotic nature of   his true character.

This sterling silver double stranded bracelet is composed of  celery green freshwater pearls, black onyx,, limestone coral , carnelian  and horn  beads. A red Bayhay seed bead from a Bayhay tree grown in the tropics of the Philippines was used for the beak.  In addition,  a  sterling silver parrot  and heart  charm adorn this piece. A sterling silver lobster clasp was used for  closure.  I must say, a truly magnificent piece was born.

   I was very delighted to know that  my customer was extremely  thrilled with this special keepsake and  she  felt it went above and beyond her expectations. This also turned out to b e a very positive experience for me. Not only could I help comfort and sooth  the pain from the loss of a special pet but I could also utilize my artistic talents to design such meaningful  and  special treasures.

Waiting For You At The Rainbow Bridge

Losing a pet is one of the hardest experinces  a pet owner endures. In my book, it is just as heartbreaking as losing a friend or family member. I have been through it  so may times, too many to count  and each time it seems like it is worse then the last.   

Althoguh comfort from friensds and family are important and meaningful there is really nothing they can do to help you get through the pain. Each time I got through it it is like someone has stabbed me in the heart and  with  each cry the feeling of my heart being pulled  right out of my chest becomes worse and worse. On top of it all, guilt sets in and I begin to quetion myself .Was the decision to send my beloved Kassi, Ka;ey or Alex to the Rainbow Bridge the wrong choice althogh I knew in my heart it was not. I could not let an animal suffer for my own selfishness. 

 Many people often ask me why do I continue to put myself through this horrible ordeal.and this  heartbreaking loss over and over again.  I guess it is becasue of my love for animasl. The  compaiomship and friendship they provide , their loyalty,  trust ,devotion and gratefulness  .But most important their uncondtional love. My mom used to tell me that if you never get another dog or cat again you will never give one the opportunity of receiving love or be loved by them. Another pet does not take the place of the one you lost, it just gives you another chance to love another with all of your heart.

I have heard from many people lately who have recently lost their beloved pet. All are  heart broken over the loss and grieving in many different ways. My heart goes out to all of them becasue I know how they feel and what they are going through. There is not one day that goes by that I don;t think about the fur babies  that I lost. I always try to remeber that one day all of the pets that we have loved and lost will  be waiting with  mouths  open and tails wagging  for us at the Rainbow Bridge.

This is why I have specialized and focused on custom  sterling silver  handmade pet memorial jewelry. Although it cannot change how you feel it will  help comfort and bring peace and special memories knowing that your pet is no lomger suffering. Tips to Care for Your Sterling Silver Jewelry

I have been asked many times by my customers as to how they should care for their sterling silver jewelry. So, I have provided some tips and helpful hints for answering some of these questions.

Silver has been mined and used since ancient times and has been used more and more in making jewelry since the 18th century. Silver by itself is considered to be a soft metal ,making it too soft to be used for jewelry making and other such products. It is therefore mixed with other metal substances (copper) known as alloy to create the product of sterling silver, thus making it harder and more suitable for jewelry making. In order for silver to be considered sterling silver it must contain a minimum of 92.5 % pure silver in content. Even though the copper contained in the silver helps the silver become more durable it also has a tendency to cause the sterling silver to tarnish or darken when the silver is exposed to substances used by us everyday.

To care for the silver and to prevent tarnishing ,below are a few tips that I pass on to my customers:

1. Avoid exposing sterling silver to chemicals such as perfume, hair spray and chlorine.
2. Use a cleaner designed for cleaning sterling silver. I suggest not using toothpaste because it is too abrasive and may scratch the silver. A mild soap detergent would work well.
3. Store your sterling silver in tarnish prevention bags and occasionally polish the sterling silver using a tarnish prevention cloth. Never store or wrap your sterling silver jewelry in newspaper, aluminum foil or wood surfaces which can contain acid
.4. It is known that body oils help to prevent tarnishing, so by wearing your sterling silver jewelry often this will help eliminate regular cleaning.
